The 3rd Annual 2009 Drop the Pop NWT Award
What is the 2009 Drop the Pop NWT Award?
The Drop the Pop School Award recognizes schools that support healthy eating for their students. This type of award is based on similar campaigns found in other provinces.
Six awards will be given out this year. Your school needs to apply to be eligible. Awards are based on school populations:

Two awards of $1500.00 for schools with up to 100 students;

Two awards of $2000.00 for schools with between 101 and 250 students;

Two awards of $2500.00 for schools with more than 250 students.
Why an Award?

To recognize targeted, collaborative and innovative efforts of schools that promote healthy eating, partnerships, environmental protection, etc.

To encourage and celebrate healthy eating for children and youth.

To gather information about promising/better practices that have been successful and to share these successes.
How to apply:

Please submit an activity report, highlighting your activities and the partnerships that made them possible.

To apply, complete the activity report and either send it back by email to Elaine_Stewart@gov.nt.ca or fax it to 867-873-0109.

To be eligible, submit application by March 15, 2009.

Indicate what you plan to do with the award money if your school is a winner (this information forms part of the report and will be used in determining the winner).

Your application will be reviewed by our partners.

The award is based on these factors:
-
uniqueness and innovation;
-
collaboration with “partners” (i.e. parents, community members, health personnel);
-
degree to which the program was a response to a targeted issue in your school.
