Sport Fishing Licence

For most areas in the NWT, seniors do not need a sport fishing licence if they are 65 years of age or older.

Two areas where you do need a licence are:

  • Great Bear Lake Special Management Area - you must have a valid Sports Fishing Licence and a Special Management Area Licence ($10.70).  Both can be obtained from any Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) office.

  • Inuvialuit Settlement Region - you must have a valid Sports Fishing Licence and a validation.  The free validation may be obtained from any vendor of fishing licences or any ENR office.

For more information, please contact:

  • Your local ENR office (http://www.enr.gov.nt.ca) or Fisheries Management office.  Look in the blue pages of your phone book under 'Fisheries'.
