Philosophy of Care
Aven Cottages - Territorial Dementia Facility were specifically designed to care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. Opened in March 2010, the staff use a holistic approach to meeting the needs of residents. The Philosophy of Care Principles is based on the Supportive Pathways model which includes:

- Privacy and Independence
- Control, Choice and Autonomy
- Social Interaction
- Safety and Security
- Residential Home-Like Environment
- Trained and Supportive Staff, and
- Resident Focused Care.

- 24 beds
- 4 respite beds
Services Available
- Adult Day Program for 5 clients/day
- Non-smoking facility
- Hair Salon and gift shop in building (opening fall 2010)
- Private rooms with cable television and telephone at resident's cost
- Nursing and personal care including medication administration and foot care
- Visiting Physicians
- Housekeeping & laundry services
- Visiting Denturist services, Optometry services, and Ophthalmology services
- Recreation Therapy Programming
- Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy
- Home cooked meals and Dietician support
- Active volunteer program
- Respite Program (4 Beds)
