Privacy and Security
Privacy, confidentiality and security are requirements of NWT HealthNet. Personal information is protected and guarded at all times by a mix of stringent technical and legislated requirements.
Access to information is strictly controlled and audited for any potential
abuse.
Legislation and policies are in place to ensure compliance to requirements.
Pro-active strategies have already taken place and include the following:
- Remediation of security risks for legacy applications and/or current networks.
- Development of organizational level privacy controls for all participating public bodies to establish a trust relationship between those parties.
- Completion of Privacy Impact Assessments and Threat Risk Assessments
Registration
All users of NWTHealthNet must be registered – there are no exceptions.
There are generally 3 phases to the registration process:
- Authorization, Access level, and legal forms need to be completed
- Account creation and security requirements need to be activated
- Confirmation and user training
