Medical Travel
The Métis Health Benefits program will pay for some or all of the expenses for an individual to travel to the nearest appropriate health facility to access insured health services. It will also pay for travel to the nearest appropriate facility for individuals seeking the following benefits not covered by the NWT Health Care Plan:
- emergency dental services;
- pre-approved orthodontic services; and
- fitting of medical supplies and any related follow-ups for these services.
Note: All travel must be arranged and approved by the appropriate medical travel office.

Alberta Blue Cross administers the Métis Supplies and Equipment Program on behalf of the Government of the NWT. Clients are eligible for any procedure that is listed in the Non-Insured Health Benefit Medical Supplies and Equipment listing (Health Canada).
