General Overview
Hay River is located on the southern shore of Great Slave Lake and is the largest community south of the lake. The Hay River Health and Social Services Authority administers a range of community health and social services, as well as acute care services to a number of communities.
The Hay River board is composed of nine members, including the chair. The Minister of Health and Social Services appoints seven board members, while other members represent the Hay River Reserve and Fort Resolution.

Exceptions and Restrictions
On the Hay River Reserve, the Authority is not responsible for managing Nats’ejee K’eh, an alcohol and drug treatment centre, or the Judith Fabian Elders Centre. These facilities are administered by the Dehcho Health and Social Services Authority.
