Bursary Awards
Bursaries are available to NWT students pursuing careers in a front line health care or social service profession. Students must be enrolled in a full time campus-based or distance education post secondary program at a Canadian university or college. In addition, these bursaries have a "return of service" component, so applicants are required to sign an agreement stating they will return to the NWT to work in their profession upon graduation. Applicants must not have a return of service agreement with any other jurisdiction in Canada or elsewhere.
Priorities for the bursary program include NWT residents who:
-
meet conditions under the GNWT affirmative action policy; and
-
have attended school or lived in the NWT for a minimum of two years immediately prior to applying for a bursary.
Each bursary has a separate application package containing general information about the bursary, an application form, instructions for submitting an application, and a return of service agreement.
