Locum Opportunities
Locum opportunities exist for physicians to experience the life as a physician in a rural northern community.
Family practice physicians are currently based out of the larger communities of Yellowknife, Inuvik, Hay River, Fort Smith and Fort Simpson. In other small communities, a primary care physician makes regularly scheduled visits.
In Yellowknife, family practice physicians provide more specialized services
and are affiliated closely with Stanton Territorial Hospital. At Stanton, physicians may provide services in the Operating Room as a GP
anesthetist,
provide a full range of obstetrics, or work full time in the Emergency Department.
Locum opportunities in Yellowknife are also available for specialists including
pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, orthopedics, ophthalmology,
ENT, radiology, general surgery and psychiatry.
