A dietician emphasize the importance of good nutrition and its effects on the health of a person.
Responsibilities include:
planning, organizing and directing all activities of food services in hospitals and other institutions, so that people obtain their nutritional needs;
discussing with and guiding people to understand and plan for specific dietary needs to improve and / or maintain health;
counselling people with particular nutritional problems such as obesity, underweight or illness (i.e. Diabetes), which require special diets;
teaching sessions for other health professionals on new findings in the area of nutrition; and
works closely with the other health professionals in the institution.
